Thayer Freese

Thayer (Terry) Joanne Freese, age 90, of Kodak TN, crossed over the river into the arms of Jesus on Saturday May 11, 2024.

Terry is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Lenore Hiller (Yohn) and Virgil Hiller, two infant children and several aunts and uncles.

Terry is survived by her husband of 40 years, Garry F. Freese, daughter Debra (Arthur) Weiner of Pleasant Prairie, WI, son Todd (Joanne) Baker of Round lake Beach, IL, stepdaughter Karry (Scott) Campbell of Laguna Hills, CA, and Garry (Buddy) F. Freese, Jr. of Lancaster, CA.

She is also survived by her sister, Carole Troy of Joliet, IL, and, also by seventeen grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, 1 nephew, 2 nieces, and a host of cousins and friends.

She was a longtime member of Foothills Worship Center in Seymour, TN. During her time at Foothills Worship Center, she was a greeter and a contributor to the hospitality of guest speakers.

Terry worked for Argonne National Laboratories, and later Abbot Laboratories, retiring from Abbot after 27 years.

She received her degree in Applied Science, from the College of Lake County in Grays Lake, IL, where she graduated with a grade point average of 3.75. Terry had a passion for helping the mentally challenged, working with group homes in Zion, IL and WI. She also worked for Douglas Cooperative, Sevierville, TN.

Terry was a member of the Christian Motorcycles Association with her husband Garry, where she served as secretary from 1984 to 1987. She also served 2 years as president of the Ambassadors Chapter #100, Zion, IL.

When Terry retired, she drove her own motorcycle, or she rode pillion (on the back) with her husband Garry. They rode together in every state of the US, including Alaska and Hawaii.

She was a member of SOWER (servants on wheels ever ready) #602, working at church camps in Islamorada, Florida, Stuart Florida, Alvin Texas, twice at Camp Dellwater, MN, twice at Indian Hills Camp, Jamul CA, and at Solid Rock Bible Camp, Soldotna, AK.

A memorial service will be held in Illinois at a later date.
