Shilo Rice

Shilo Maria Rice, 49, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Shilo was born on March 7, 1975, in Harriman, TN. Overcoming challenges with her mental health, Shilo graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree in psychology. While in college, she wrote for the Daily Beacon. After graduation, she was employed as a medical credentialing specialist for many years.

Shilo's life is best summed up by her love of rock n' roll and animals, specifically her two cats, Jingles and Dorian. In the afterlife, it is easy to imagine her caring for the cats who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge while listening to music by her favorite artist, Axl Rose. To continue helping animals Earthside, donations in her memory can be made to Young Williams Animal Center in Knoxville.

Shilo is preceded in death by her father and grandmother, both of whom loved her unconditionally. She is survived by her mother, sister, brother, and a whole host of cousins who are saddened by her passing. Now free from the mental struggles that tormented her in this lifetime, may she swim in as many secluded, mountain streams as she so desires. Her family will remember her in a private, personal ceremony in a place where she found happiness.
