Ronald Purdom, born on August 26, 1957, Lewisburg, Tennessee, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side on October 13, 2024, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was an accomplished DJ known for his vibrant presence while working for various radio stations. Ronnie worked for 20 years and later retired from SmithKline and Beecham company. He brought joy to countless listeners with his engaging personality and passion for music.
After attending Marshall County High School, Ronald was not only a talented broadcaster but also a cherished friend and family member. He had a heart of gold, characterized by his love for animals and horses, as well as his prankster spirit that never failed to elicit laughter from those around him. Ronald was truly enjoyable to be around, always caring and ready to help those in need.
He had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought him joy. Ronald loved watching old westerns and listening to a variety of music. He took pleasure in capturing memories through pictures and videos. Additionally, he had a fondness for classic literature, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and catfish.
Ronald is survived by his beloved daughters, Jessica (James) Allen of Seymour, TN, and Jennifer Cousins of Lenoir City, TN. He is also survived by his brothers, Jessie (Karen) "Tooter" Purdom Jr., of Shelbyville, TN, Michael (Nancy) Wiley of Murfreesboro, TN; sisters, Mary Ann Letsinger of Knoxville, TN, and Jessie "Sissy" Hargrove of Lewisburg, TN; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Parker Phelps, James Allen IV, Kody Allen, and Jude Cousins. Ronald's loving legacy continues with many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Herman Purdom and Ada Marie Purdom and brother Jimmy Purdom and sister Jessie Lee Gipson. Ronald's spirit, love, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
