Michael Panter

Michael “Mike” Raymond Panter, 74, a lifelong resident of Oak Ridge, TN, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Mike was born September 6, 1949, and was of Baptist faith. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, and spent time stationed in South Korea. Mike worked at Oak Ridge Gas company, in addition to traveling with his brother John rebuilding cable systems. Mike was also an accomplished carpenter.

Mike was an avid fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers, and he enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and throwing darts. He loved his dogs, but most of all he LOVED visits from his family.

Mike was preceded in death by the love of his life Donna Panter; father Earl Panter; mother Gertrude Panter; brothers-in-law Tommy Stephens and Larry Price.

He is survived by daughter Lynzi Panter (Markell Swicegood); step-children Michelle Crutcher (Nikki), Brad Moses (Ashley), Carrie Moses (Mark Abercrombie); sons Todd Panter and Ben Panter; siblings Doris Stephens, Lee Panter (Diane), Ron Panter (Glenda), Brenda Cleland (Wayne), Claudia Price, John Panter (Cindy); grandchildren Emily Abercrombie, Faith York, Ben Moses, Alex Moses, MJ Abercrombie, Callianna Swicegood, Ka’Mayia Swicegood; great-grandchildren Ariella Atwood and Noah Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a small service in the chapel at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Hwy on March 18, 2024, at 12:30 pm.
