Jack Cooper

October 5, 1950 — February 4, 2024

Jack B. Cooper, a proud veteran of the United States Army, became pain free when the
precious Lord took his hand and gave him a new body on February 4, 2024.
He grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and graduated from West High School in 1969. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of 18 and bravely served in Vietnam with the 173 rd Airborne Brigade and the 101 st Airborne Division. During his service he was awarded several medals, including the Purple Heart.

Before his illness, Jack was an avid fisherman, spending many enjoyable years fishing on the lakes through the southeast. Family members and friends have such fond memories of the time spent with Jack on his bass boat. Everyone takes great comfort knowing that he is now fishing on the beautiful heavenly shores with all the loved ones that he joined in Heaven. Jack also loved to sing in church, was an excellent athlete with many days spent at the ballparks, and he was quite the pool shark. He could truly be called a “Jack of all trades!”

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Homer Cooper, Sr. and Agnes Mardell
Owenby Cooper; brother James Hugh Cooper.

He is survived by his loving wife, Katherine (lovingly called “Kak” or “Babe” by Jack), sons Blu, Santee (Crystal), and Chris (Jodi); grandchildren Bass, Aspen, Justus (Phoebe), and Madisyn; great-granddaughter Arianna. To cherish memories of their childhood days, Jack is also survived by his sister Karen (Terry), Bert (Jackie) and Billy (Karen), and he leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Jack was a loving son, devoted husband, a proud dad, Gramps, brother and uncle who loved sharing stories about the accomplishments of his family.

A celebration of life and burial will be held on March 22, 2024, at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery & Chapel, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. Family and friends will meet at 12:15 p.m. A full Military Honors Service will be provided by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard and will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be sent to the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard, P.O. Box 22802, Knoxville, TN 37933.
“Our memories of love and laughter shall not fade, for inside our hearts you will always stay.”
