Hugh Carpenter Smith, Jr.

Hugh C. Smith Jr., 88. Of Blaine, Tennessee passed away at home on November 9th, 2023. He was born October 11, 1935, at home and Gardiner, Maine to Hugh C. Smith, Sr and Madeline (Douglas) Smith. He enjoyed playing the saxophone, traveling, bird-watching, and helping others. He could fix just about anything. He was a member of Circle Assembly and God in Knoxville.

Headed by his wife of 36 years, Jean (Laskey) Smith. He is survived by his two sons Alan and his wife Monique, Mark and his wife, Eloisa, and daughter Debbie Hale. Also his brother Edward, sister Hilda Johnson, sister-in-law, Sissy Crutchfield, and husband, Donnie. He also had several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hugh grew up in Maine and moved to Florida in 1985, where he worked at South Eastern Bible College. Then he and Gene moved to Tennessee in their later years, where he became the local handyman. He loved his life in Tennessee. Now he's enjoying his new home in heaven, playing his saxophone as the “Saints go marching in.”
