Gregory Harrison, Sr., a beloved member of the Knoxville community, was born on February 11, 1960, and passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, with his loving wife Linda with whom he shared 26 wonderful years, by his side. Gregory will be remembered not only for his contributions to his family and friends but also for the joy he brought to so many during his lifetime.
Educated at Rule High School, Gregory distinguished himself as a proud Golden Bear. He garnered admiration as a punter for the football team, earning the affectionate nicknames "Cannon Leg" and "Happy Harrison." Additionally, his talents extended to the basketball court, where he showcased his athleticism and passion for sports. Gregory maintained his love for watching sports throughout his life, including football, basketball, and baseball, sharing this enthusiasm with those he held dear.
Among the many cherished roles he assumed in life, Gregory was a devoted husband to Linda, a nurturing father to his children, and a proud grandfather to his eight grandchildren: Bryson Harrison, Nola Cartwell, Sadie Harrison, Chris Cartwell, Abrahm Harrison, Amelia Harrison, Micah Wagoner, and Aiden Hicks. He is survived by his sons, Gregory Harrison Jr., Aaron (Susan) Harrison, and Andrew (Jennifer) Harrison, as well as his daughter, Ashley Marie Harrison, and stepson, Dean Hicks. Gregory's legacy of kindness and warmth continues through his family.
He is also survived by his sisters, Tammy Wagoner and Sharon (Randy) Maples, along with his nephews Eddie Harrison, Michael Harrison, Adam Harrison, Brian Maples, Justin Maples, and nieces Courtney Wagoner, Lena Ammons, and April Harrison. Throughout his life, Gregory formed deep connections, and he leaves behind special friends Kenny Dean Borden and Robby Barker.
Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Betty Harrison, his brother Kenny Harrison, and his niece Brittany Wagoner. Their memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his family.
As we remember Gregory Harrison, we celebrate a life characterized by kindness, love, and respect. His spirit will endure in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
