David Wright, Sr.

David Wayne Wright, age 71, passed away suddenly on Sunday February 9, 2025 at home. He was born January 12, 1954, to Deadrick and Dorothy Wright. David was a loving and kindhearted man, and many would say he was always the jokester. He always enjoyed being around his brothers and always telling stories. He loved the outdoors and going camping and fishing with family, especially his brothers. He worked for Gerdau Steel for almost 40 years before retiring and during his time there, he met a lot of people who say he was fun to be around and was a wonderful person. Regardless of whether it was about operating a crane or telling you like it was, that was David. He always had a funny personality and that kept you wondering what he was going to say next. David loved the Lord, and he was taught the importance of prayer. He cared about the well being of others and always wanted to make sure that you were ok. He sure loved his wife and family and especially his little dog, Little Guy. He kept him company so many times and he would always talk about him.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Deadrick and Dorothy Wright (Garland); Brothers Alan and Terry Wright. Sisters Betty Gibbs, Linda Rudd, and Patsy Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Wright, Sons Tommy Wright (Sarah) and David Wright Jr (Rhonda); Brothers Ronny Wright (Teresa), Johnny Wright, Sister Debbie Huggins (Mike), Grandchildren Mason and Cooper Wright; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. A Celebration of Life will be on Friday February 28th at 7pm at South Knoxville Worship Center located at 3910 Woodlawn Pike with Pastor Stan Kasior officiating. Anyone who wishes to send flowers may send them to the church.
